Expo 2017 Astana was an International Exposition which took place from June 10 to September 10, 2017 in Astana city, now Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. The expo’s theme was “Future Energy”, and aimed to create a global debate between countries, nongovernmental organizations, companies and the general public on the crucial effect of CO2 and its solution.

115 states and 22 international organizations confirmed their participation in EXPO 2017 in Astana. This turnout exceeded the organizing company’s expectations of 100 countries and 10 international organizations. Since June 10 through September 9, the EXPO-2017 International Specialized Exhibition was visited by over 3,86 million people. The average daily attendance amounted to 22,840 visits.

At the end of 2013 year, about 50 architects from 20 countries of the world proposed their vision of the exhibition complex. The task of the authors of the projects was to create a sketch that would correspond to innovative technologies. At the same time, one of the criteria is the main idea of EXPO 2017 in Astana – the Energy of the Future. In the embodiment of the exhibition complex “green” technologies will be used. Objects of the exhibition area to demonstrate the introduction of alternative energy sources and energy saving. Use of equipment after EXPO in Astana. After all, the complex will serve the residents of the capital for many more years, will become a cultural object.

The autonomous city of the future that we have developed with modern technology does not need external power sources such as water, electricity and heating. EXPO CITY is the source of all the necessary resources, which can be used by 1000 houses in the adjacent residential eco-zone.

The total area of the EXPO-2017 facility is 173.4 hectares. of which 25 hectares is the exhibition complex itself, where in its very heart there will be a sphere with a diameter of 120 meters, in several floors with a total area of 24 thousand square meters. m, it will become a symbol of Astana and all of Kazakhstan. The Kazakhstan pavilion will be surrounded by international, thematic, and corporate pavilions, creating an integrated group of buildings. Among the thematic pavilions – “World of Energy”, “Energy for Life”, “Energy for Everyone”, “My Energy of the Future”, they will occupy 16 thousand square meters. m.

Here, in the exhibition area, it is planned to create an Arts Center specially designed for the cultural and entertainment program of the exhibition. There will also be a special area where the best examples of the use of alternative energy will be presented, as well as a Congress Center.

The non-exhibition area on the territory of 148 hectares will house the residential sector, social and cultural facilities, education and health care, shopping and entertainment centers, parks and boulevards. I would like to note that the total area will be adjusted in the course of the development of design and estimate documentation.

Our team was one of the first to present the idea of an autonomous city in March 2013, with a central dome in the middle, which symbolizes a Heavenly body, a highly technological one, that descended into the steppe of Kazakhstan. Our ideas became fundamental in the architecture and planning of the round city and its saturation.

EXPO CITY – an ecological oasis in the steppes of Kazakhstan fountains, lakes, botanical gardens, recreation parks, united by a common infrastructure, will become the pearl of ASTANA attracting a huge number of people from all over the world !!!

The central pavilion “Kazakhstan”, spherical in shape, will become the largest collector of alternative energy sources. Its diameter is 100m, height is 70m, it is 14 floors with 90,000 m2 of usable area and 40,000 m2 of facade covered with solar panels. The largest spherical cinema will become the technological highlight of the pavilion.

All produced and consumed resources of EXPO CITY will be controlled and optimized by one single software system, which wakes up a specially designed for a multi-functional facility with energy production

A rotating farm with the symbols of the rays of the KAZAKSTAN pavilion around it symbolizes the production of electricity in real time, and an additional frame from the outside awakens to be the largest collector of lightning energy.

EXPO 2017 will give Kazakhstan an opportunity to get new energy and “green” technologies, as well as further use of its facilities.
